Overview

Now, more than ever, organizations are beginning to consider the sweeping impact of IPv6 technology. With the enhanced next generation protocol, organizations will face new security issues and concerns. Many have dismissed IPv6 as a threat, believing it to be five or ten years in the future. However, a majority of operating systems, appliance and embedded system vendors are installing and enabling IPv6 by default. This is troubling to many security professionals and Network administrators who donšt keep tabs of their systems face a huge risk. The wide scale adoption of this protocol has yet to be realized; however, the presence on your network is real and needs to be addressed. Working with our IPv6 security subject matter experts, participants will gain a deep knowledge of attacking and defending present-day networks.

Basics

Subject materials covered in this course include a brief overview of IPv6 fundamentals and security, followed by common IPv6 vulnerabilities; hacker/testing tools in IPv6 and how they work; recognizing the difference between "good" and "malicious" packet traces; discovering security architecture and tools available for a more secure network; avoiding "back doors" created by tunnels and transition mechanisms; and IPv6 "Best Practices" for monitoring and mitigating attacks.
