Agile 2007 Conference Update

I recently attended the Agile 2007 conference and was amazed by the level of agile experience present. I spoke with many conference attendees and every one of them indicated they had worked on one or more agile projects. Clearly Agile is becoming more mainstream, at least at the project level but the focus now appears to be on the transition of Agile to the Enterprise. Thirteen of the conference sessions used the words “agile” and “enterprise”.

I attended an interesting discovery session to identify the agile principles suitable for corporate executives. The fact that this session was a topic of discussion shows that the software community is looking to apply agile in more ways than simply using it on a project.

At Command Information, we are working to apply agile in an enterprise setting. In fact, our vendor presentation outlined a framework that supports agile across the entire organization. We have seen success in thinking differently about job roles and responsibilities. We have begun defining the performance measurement criteria for successful team contribution as well as an individual contribution. We still have much work to do and will continue to refine our framework as we work with more and more companies adopting agile in the enterprise. It is exciting to be at the forefront of the enterprise
Agile adoption curve.
